The ILE RPG Curriculum

Manta Technologies Inc. has completed a major update to its RPG Programming series and related products. Following is a summary of the changes that were made.
RPG Programming
This series was substantially revised to replace all coding exercises. Previously, the exercises simulated the use of SEU in coding RPG programs. Now, the exercises are "editor agnostic," applying equally well to students who use SEU and students who use the LPEX editor.
In addition, all coding examples have been rewritten to use RPG /FREE syntax. While the old series covered RPG /FREE, the new series requires its use where possible. The courses have also been updated, as required, to cover RPG features available with IBM i 6.1.
Finally, material that covers generic compiler use, program binding, advanced ILE program management, and debugging has been removed from this series, substantially lowering the series price. This material is now available in the Manta series The IBM i Programming Environment.
The IBM i Programming Environment
This series was introduced last year. It was designed as an introduction to other Manta programming courses, covering the basic information needed by all programmers new to the IBM i environment. With the addition of a third course, Advanced ILE Program Management, the series is now a self-contained training product covering all aspects of ILE programming. This series now replaces the Integrated Language Environment series, which is no longer available.
Using the ILE Source-Level Debugger
This is an update and a repackaging of a course that had been available as part of three separate series:
- RPG Programming
- Control Language Programming
- Integrated Language Environment
The course has been removed from those series and is now available as a stand-alone course.
