The industry experts who developed the courses within Manta's IBM i Training Library are also available for classroom-based training. Any of our 100+ courses can be taught at your site. If you do not have enough students for a full class, you may also be able to send students to a public class that is hosted by Manta for multiple organizations. Two classes are currently scheduled for Denver:
For training at your site, two basic training formats are available.
- One option is to have a Manta instructor deliver all material in lecture-based format. Lectures can be supplemented with computer-based exercises, including Manta's IBM i simulations. This format is ideal for students who prefer a traditional classroom environment, either due to their personal learning styles or because of their need for a structured environment away from the workplace.
- A more cost-effective option is to have a group of students take Manta courses in their original format under the direction of a Manta instructor. The instructor is available to answer questions, proctor exams, and otherwise help maximize the students' training experience.
In either case, you begin the process by working with a Manta educational specialist to determine the content, format, and duration of the classes. Following are some suggested curricula:
- IBM i Operations Boot Camp — This is a 4.5-day class covering basic operations. It includes the material from three Manta series: Depending on the students' previous knowledge and the organization's wishes, PowerVM concepts and IBM System Director Navigator for i may also be covered.
- IBM i Work Management and Security — This is a 4.5-day class covering the skills from Manta's Work Management for System Administrators and IBM i Security series.
- RPG Programming Boot Camp
— This 4.5-day class is for new RPG programmers. It covers the topics in Manta's The IBM i Programming Environment and RPG Programming series.- DB2 and SQL — This is a 4.5-day class for IBM i programmers. It covers the topics in Manta's Working with DB2 Databases and Using Structured Query Language (SQL) series. An introduction to Web Query for i, Query Manager, and Query for iSeries is also provided.
- Web Development Boot Camp — This 4-day course includes all topics from Manta's eBusiness for IBM i Programmers series and the Configuring an HTTP Server course. It covers everything you need to implement a web-based application using your existing IBM i system.
You can follow the links above to view a detailed description of each course, including outlines and course objectives.
An unlimited number of variations are available, depending on your students' existing skill levels and your training requirements. A Manta educational consultant can help you determine what is best for you.
Thanks to Manta's incredible depth of training options, the students' education does not end when the instructor leaves. Regardless of the format selected, each student receives one or more Student Reference Guides to use as an on-the-job reference. In addition, the organization is provided with a MantaNow license for students who may wish to review the material in the subsequent year and for students who were unable to attend the class.
Once you determine the training to be delivered and the number of students who will attend, Manta will provide a fixed-price quote for the instructor, handouts, and MantaNow license. In case you decide to add students later, we will also provide the cost for each additional student over the base number. It is your responsibility to provide the training facility which, depending on the class you design, may include a LAN-connected PC for each student. You will also be billed for the instructor's travel and lodging.
As mentioned above, Manta will host classes (in Denver) if there is sufficient interest. Let us know what you might be interested in, and we will do our best to accomodate you.
